One Family, One Partner: A Timeless Alliance Across Generations

The story behind this partnership between the Al Harsousi family and Komatsu is an insightful tale of a thriving family business built on the reliance on a trusted partner-Komatsu. This is an alliance that goes beyond mere business… a testament to Komatsu’s values that transcend time.

Recently, we had the pleasure of meeting with Sheikh Humaid Mohammed Saqr Al Harsousi, the Co-Founder and Chairman of Jalmood National Company to look back at generations of a family united by a remarkable partnership with Komatsu.

Like father, like son! Sheikh Humaid shares his unique journey with Komatsu, which began when he was just a little kid.

He elaborates that this partnership has already taken shape during his early days working in his father's business, long before he established his own venture in 2006. His father had maintained a long-standing partnership with Komatsu and Saud Bahwan Group with purchases that included the D155 dozer.

Fast forward to 2006, Sheikh Humaid followed in his father’s footsteps by choosing Komatsu machinery, known for its durability and profitability. Just like his father, he recognized the profound impact that this alliance has had on his family business’ success across generations.

Quality, Productivity, and Endurance: 3 Factors Shaping Jalmood National’s Investment in Komatsu Machinery

When asked about the metrics and standards that guide their investment in machinery, Sheikh Humaid emphasizes the paramount importance of quality, productivity, and endurance in their decision-making process.

This challenging topographic environment in Oman, characterized by its craggy valleys and hills, demands robust machinery that withstands and performs effectively in such grueling terrain. And that’s exactly where Komatsu machinery excels.

Built to tackle the toughest conditions, Sheikh Humaid explains that Komatsu's Japanese-made machinery consistently demonstrates unmatched reliability and performance, delivering quality that inspires unwavering trust. It’s the reason why Jalmood National has confidently invested in Komatsu machinery for years, with Komatsu enabling Jalmood National to undertake the most demanding projects.

He explains: “We look for the quality, productivity, and endurance of the equipment we procure, and this is because we have rugged terrain in the Gulf, particularly in the Sultanate of Oman.”

Komatsu and Saud Bahwan: In A Class of Their Own

In the construction industry, time is of the essence. And in that regard, Sheikh Humaid expressed his appreciation for Komatsu and Saud Bahwan's focus on time in their customer support services. The fact that they provide a prompt response to all customers’ requests, whether related to a purchase, maintenance, or delivery, is indispensable to Jalmood National.

He firmly believes that both Komatsu and Saud Bahwan go above and beyond to proactively fulfill their customers’ needs. According to Sheikh Humaid: “We have never encountered any problem with Saud Bahwan, they have a world-class customer service center, and I believe that it is one of the best centers in the Sultanate of Oman.”

But what truly sets Saud Bahwan apart is their impeccable support throughout the entire customer journey. From their honest guidance in the initial stages of selecting the right models to counseling customers on maximizing equipment performance as well as providing advice on maintenance and upkeep, this has solidified Saud Bahwan’s position as a trusted supplier for Jalmood National.

Komatsu and Jalmood National’s Ambitious 2023 Roadmap

Delving into the current and upcoming projects that Jalmood National is undertaking, relying on their collaboration with Komatsu, Sheikh Humaid reveals that they are currently working with pioneer companies in the oil and gas sector such as Aftermath Insurance, Constant Oman Company, Daleel Petroleum, CC Energy, Petrogas-RIMA and Occidental Mukhaizna LLC.

He attributes this success to the high-quality, durable, and reliable machinery provided by Komatsu. In his own words, “Thanks to God first and then to Komatsu’s robust equipment which contributed to the production and completion of these projects. It withstood lots of challenges alongside us.”

Sheikh Humaid further commends the current Sultanate’s civilizational renaissance led by His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik. He expresses his aspirations and expectations for more development and growth for the Omani community in 2024, 2025, and beyond.
